Description
The specimen shows a bisected upper portion of femur; there is an irregular
fracture line running through the neck and trochanter. There is tumour tissue surrounding the upper
part of the femoral shaft and the trochanter and extending into the fracture area. Sections of the
tumour tissue show that this is likely to be a metastasis from a small cell carcinoma of the lungs.
